Privacy Policy

No expert reviewer assigned to this entry. General information, not legal advice.

Effective Date: November 1, 2026.

EmployerLawCheck ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle information when you visit our website, use our checker, or subscribe to updates.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • No Account Required: You do not need to register, create a username, or provide an email address to browse rules or use the employer compliance checker.
  • No Sensitive Business or Employee Data: We do not collect or store employee names, Social Security numbers, wage rates, addresses, or internal personnel records.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

  • Checker Form Submissions: When you use the compliance checker, your selections (state, city, employee headcount, industry) are processed server-side in real time to query our rules database and return applicable statutory entries. These inputs are not stored in association with your IP address or personal identity.
  • State Alert Subscriptions: If you voluntarily sign up for email alerts on a state page, we collect your email address and preferred state code. We generate a unique, cryptographically random unsubscribe token associated with your record. Every alert email contains a single-click unsubscribe link that immediately purges your subscription from our active mailing queue upon request. We never sell, rent, or share our subscriber lists with third parties.
  • Affiliate Link Redirections: When you click an external link to an HR or payroll partner via /go/{provider}, our server logs standard click metrics: provider name, timestamp, referring page path (e.g., /states/california), and placement context (e.g., checker-results). We do not attach personal profiles or cross-site tracking identifiers to these click records.
  • Server Logs and Technical Telemetry: Like standard web services, our web servers and content delivery network (Cloudflare) process technical access logs including IP addresses, browser user-agent strings, and request timestamps to maintain network security, mitigate DDoS attacks, and prevent abuse.

3. Cookies and Browser Caching

Public informational pages on EmployerLawCheck do not start user sessions or set tracking cookies. Our public GET pages are delivered as clean, statically cacheable HTML to optimize load performance and respect user privacy. Cookies are strictly reserved for authorized administrative sessions.

4. Your Rights and Contact Information

You may request verification or deletion of your email subscription at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any message or contacting our privacy officer via our Contact page.
